Radio Show
If you are in Lubbock, Texas, or the surrounding area, you can
hear Dr. Wright's radio show every Wednesday by tuning in to 580
AM between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Several years ago a full page article about Dr. Wright
appeared in the Health section of the Lubbock Avalanche Journal
newspaper, telling the readers about his new book “Letters to My
Patients” and his beliefs in alternative and complimentary
medicine. The article explained how he used this philosophy,
which encompassed a broad knowledge of Nutrition and Osteopathic
Manipulation, for the successful treatment of a myriad of
chronic and debilitating conditions which hadn’t responded to
orthodox medical methods of treatment.
“Big Ed” Wilkes, who was the owner of KRFE radio station at
that time, read the article and thought it would make
interesting conversation on the “Morning Show” which he did with
his son, Wade, and guests of their choice. Big Ed invited Dr.
Wright to be on the show to talk about his new book and his
treatment methods. Due to the hosts' interest and numerous calls
from the listeners, what started out to be a thirty minute interview turned into a
three-hour program.
A couple weeks after that interview, Big Ed called Dr. Wright
to say that he had had a lot of favorable response from his
listeners and asked if he would be interested in doing a weekly
half hour call-in show. Dr. Wright agreed because he thought it
would be a good way to spread his philosophy of healing to an
interested audience. Before the show had been on the air for two
months, Big Ed asked Dr. Wright if he could possibly extend the
length of the show to one hour each week since the half hour
period was not enough time to accommodate the voluminous number
of questions from his listeners. Dr. Wright agreed. That is how
the present “Letter to My Patients” show got its start.
“Big Ed” Wilkes died about six months after the advent of the
“Letters to My Patients” show but it has continued with his son,
Wade, and has now aired weekly for the past four and a half
years.
