Q & A archive—Taste Loss

Question: After receiving chemotherapy, my uncle has lost his abilty to taste food. He's now able to taste sweet things only. What natural product or vitamin/mineral might help him taste food?

Answer: Yes. The zinc is depleted in his body due to the chemotherapy treatment. But some of the other mineral are probably needed also. I usually use a good Multiple Mineral capsule as obtained at a good Health Food Store in the quantity suggested on the bottle and in addition another 50 mg. of zinc until he gets he taste back again. Zinc is very important in the ability of the body to taste and smell. I would discuss it with his doctor. Let me know in a few weeks how he is doing.
