Q & A archive—Arsenic
Question: A series of tests revealed that I have
arsenic in my body and the Dr. has suggested chelation as the
treatment. I am leery of that, and wish to know what you would
recommend. I continually gain weight and also have
hypothyroidism, but at this point am more concerned about
arsenic?
Answer: Arsenic toxicity generally accumulates over a
long period of time. You should first try to investigate the
source of the arsenic and get rid of it. Treatment with large
doses of vitamin C is helpful in getting rid of any kind of
toxicity, including the heavy metals. Generally 1000 mg. about
every two hours during the day is used. Chelation is an accepted
method of ridding the body of heavy metals like mercury and lead
when properly administered and monitored. It can be used both
intravenously and orally. I don’t know of its use for arsenic
but don’t know why it wouldn’t be of benefit.
Your hypothyroid condition may be your biggest problem. The
thyroid is what I call the key gland of the body and when it
isn’t functioning adequately you can get about every symptom in
the book. There is considerable information on my website about
thyroid in the Q&A archives. If this problem exists, I would use
dietary correction and natural Armour’s thyroid—not synthetic
thyroid.
