Effective Therapy for Parkinson’s Patients

If you have Parkinson’s Disease or know a friend that has, this information could be of great value to you.

A relatively recent therapy that is very effective in controlling the symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease is being used by some physicians who are doing I.V. Nutritional Therapy. The results in some of my patients has been very exciting. Tremors, muscular rigidity and muscular control of the body are frequently greatly improved with accompanying reduction of pain. Although it is not a cure for Parkinson’s it is a valuable way to control the symptoms and give patients significant relief.

Although the cause of Parkinson’s Disease is still unknown, we do know that the nerve cells in the brain which produce the chemical dopamine die prematurely. Dopamine is necessary to control the muscle tone of the body. When the dopamine deficiency becomes great enough, tremors and muscular rigidity and pain result.

A potent antioxidant called Glutathione which is normally produced by the body is found to be very deficient in the area of the brain where dopamine is naormally produced. Supplying this natural chemical by I.V. injection has proven to be very effective in rapidly controlling the devastating symptoms of Parkinson’s. Results are sometimes seen after only a few injections. The oral use of Glutathione is not effective because for some reason it does not pass through the blood-brain barrier. However, along with the I.V. Glutathione there are other oral therapies that seem to help maintain the patient once the symptoms are controlled. This therapy is effective in most patients but unfortunately does not work on all patients.

I have found it very effective to use Magnesium with the Glutathione to help relax the muscles and control the rigidity. I have also found that Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy is very valuable in the treatment of this disabling disease.

Parkinson’s patients should not give up hope of improvement because although modern medicine does not have a cure for this problem, the above treatment is very helpful.
