Dear patients and readers:

Last week on my radio show I commented with great disdain about some very untrue information that MSNBC and CNN had put on their news programs about the herb Ginkgo Biloba. The so called "study" that they aired was a very poorly done study that was done on healthy people who didn't need Ginkgo Biloba in the first place and it was done with far too small doses and for far too short a period of time.

I read something from the Health Sciences Institute the other day that I think my patients and readers would be interested in reading. As is true with almost any substance that has an effect on the body, (and that would certainly include food supplements) some undesirable things can happen as well as the good things for which the supplement was intended. So it is also with Ginkgo Biloba, but when properly used Ginkgo Biloba has a long history of significant benefit to millions of people. I will say that I have used Ginkgo Biloba in my own practice for many, many years and have not experienced either of the possible problems that this article describes--however I have never had anyone taking it steadily for eight years. So read the following article. I like people to know as much truth as possible about products they may be taking for their health.
