YOUR FREEDOM TO USE NATURAL VITAMIN AND MINERAL SUPPLEMENTS AND HERBS IS IN DANGER! YOU MUST ACT NOW!

To my patients and radio listeners and readers of my books and all others interested in caring for their own health:

I would like to give you a little history which is necessary to understand what is happening in Congress right now. In 1993 The Dietary Supplements Health and Education Act (DSHEA) was passed by Congress to insure people the right to choose and take any vitamins, minerals and herbs for the benefit of their own health. This Act was very popular among the people who wanted the right to participate in their own health care and who believe that nutritional supplements are necessary to achieve that goal. This Act was very unpopular with those who benefit from illness and the sale of medications for the treatment of those illnesses. Ever since the DSHEA was passed there have been stronger and stronger efforts to find a means of depriving people of their inherent right to control their own health. After twelve years of champing at the bit, the opponents of the DSHEA have finally managed to get two bills in Congress which, if enacted, would put so many regulations and restrictions on the manufacturers and distributor of health food products that they would either have to quit business or increase the price of their products so much that it would be prohibitive. The restrictions that they are trying to put on the Health Food Industry are far more restrictive and expensive than the restrictions and regulations under which drug manufacturers operate. These proposed restrictions are advertised as being for the “safety of the people,” but we all know that it is really for the elimination of competition by the monied interests who have a lot to lose.

These two bills that are now before Congress and could be acted on soon are Senate bill S722 and House bill HR3377. These bills must be defeated. This can only be done by flooding your Representatives and Senators with mail and phone calls until they will be afraid to vote for these bills. This is not a situation that is going to go away if we stick our head in the sand and do nothing and I want to assure you that if these two bills pass this will be just the beginning of the restrictions placed on your ability to control your own health. If these bills pass it will surely make your nutritional supplements much more expensive IF INDEED YOU CAN GET THEM AT ALL!

So do yourself a favor. Click this link www.uscongress.com  to access the website of the U.S. Congress and get the name and address and phone number of your Representatives and Senators and phone or write them and politely let them know how much you value your ability to protect your own health and urge them to defeat these two bills. This issue will not go away unless we force it to go away. Please tell your friends and relatives about this issue and urge them to help preserve these important rights.
